FQ2 . image sensor

In early 2011, the product image sensor FQ of  Omron marked a new development step for the field of image sensors with the following criteria: simple but effective, both in terms of features and cost. Users can install and operate the image sensor FQ easily without having deep knowledge in the field.

Installation of the FQ image sensor can be done quickly via the touch screen (Touch Finder console) or via a convenient Ethernet-connected PC. The FQ image sensor displays sharp images with the ability to process 16 million colors. FQ is the most compact image sensor family with camera, lens and processor, high power LED illuminator (4 times more conventional) in a sturdy metal block with IP67 protection class. . In addition, the FQ image sensor has a polarizer attached to it, reducing the shadow effect of the image. In October 2012, Omron officially introduced the upgraded product line of the FQ2 image sensor with many outstanding features, although the price is still the same as the old FQ. Some of the strengths of the new FQ2 image sensor include:

Added model and optical character recognition (OCR), barcode reading (15 different types, including 2D codes). Thus, a single sensor can both detect the correct position of the label, check the accuracy of the production date, and read the barcode information on the label. This work previously required many different sensors. To perform OCR, the FQ2 image sensor stores a library of more than 80 fonts, and font variations make it possible for FQ2 to detect accurately without spending much time tweaking; such as with the cases of blurry, italic, small font inconsistency below:

New generation CPU 3 times faster processing speed:

Perform Shape Search command 10 times faster than the old model. Processing time can be further reduced thanks to the custom DAP (Dual Axis Partial) function that limits image processing to a specific area.

More Sensor / Camera Choices FQ2 adds sensors with C-mount lenses: suitable for applications with longer detection distances than 1m (up to 10m) or small control areas more than 1mm, with optional additional illumination. Resolution can be up to 1.3 Mpx FQ2 supports many convenient communication methods for data exchange between sensor and PLC such as PLC link, FINS, Ethernet/IP, RS232 (via Sensor Data Unit) FQ2 has a configuration flexible system configuration, should meet even the most difficult requirements in production lines and finished product packaging. You can choose the FQ image sensor in: – Standalone operation or via PC – Local or remote control – Fixed or movable – Temporary or permanent installation

The very simple setup interface makes it possible for anyone to become an “expert” in the FQ image sensor in a few minutes. The FQ image sensor allows real-time parameter adjustment. The operator does not have to stop the machine to fine-tune or optimize parameters. The interface screen displays all results on 1 page. Need to see details of any results, just select that box. Aggregate measurement results can also be displayed in the form of a trend graph (trend), or a distribution graph (histogram) to help managers assess the general situation quickly. Results can be saved to SD card.

In case a monitor or PC is connected to multiple sensor heads, the display will automatically show an unsatisfactory result from one of these sensor heads.

Most image sensors in the same segment as the FQ2 image sensor on the market today use black and white image processing to reduce costs. However, black and white images in some applications do not have the necessary contrast to detect errors. The FQ2 image sensor uses a powerful 24-bit true color processor, which increases speed and reliability.

The FQ2 image sensor has a maximum resolution of 1.3Mpx, allowing to check 32 different images at the same time, a maximum test area of 300x268mm, a maximum distance of 10m. Each FQ image sensor sensor has the ability to store in memory 1000 test values or 20 images (if using Touch Finder with SD card it depends on card capacity). Touch Finder has a 3.5-inch TFT screen, 320 x 240 resolution with 16 million colors, uses an external 24VDC source or can use an 1,800mAh battery (very convenient when moving to install, adjust parameters at many places). different sensor positions)

Using FQ2 is very suitable for inspection of labels, packaging, finished products in the food and beverage industry, pharmaceuticals, plastic, rubber, machine parts, electronic components, etc.

Each FQ2 can connect to Touch Finder or PC via industry standard Ethernet cable, and connect to PLC, sensors or external signal, power via another special I/O cable. If an additional switching hub is used, PC / Touch Finder can connect up to 32 FQ sensor heads, especially suitable for applications that require multiple test points. The ability to use the free software FQ PC Tool on the PC instead of Touch Finder also contributes to a significant reduction in the cost of the system.
